CAPCOM'S DARK VOID AND TESLA MOTORS TEAM UP TO BRING GAMERS "DARK VOID'S TESLA ROADSTER GIVEAWAY"
Dark Void Fans Will Now Get a Chance to Pilot More Than a Jet Pack with a Chance to Win a Tesla Roadster
SAN MATEO, Calif. — October 13, 2009 – Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, and Tesla Motors have partnered to bring gamers the Dark Void™ Tesla Roadster Giveaway. The sweepstakes, which began Monday at an exclusive event at the flagship Tesla Motors showroom in Silicon Valley, invites gamers to visit Capcom’s official Dark Void site to enter for a chance to win a variety of prizes, including an all-expense paid trip to Las Vegas to test drive a Roadster, as well as the Grand Prize: their very own Roadster.

The Dark Void Tesla Roadster Giveaway is the first time that Tesla Motors has partnered with another company to give away a Roadster, the record-setting electric sports car that’s faster than a Porsche 911 Turbo and greener than a Toyota Prius. To celebrate the launch of the sweepstakes and promote Capcom’s highly anticipated action-adventure game, Dark Void, Capcom held a test drive event Monday that allowed the media and San Francisco Bay Area members of Capcom-Unity.com to experience both the car and the game.

“One of the characters in Dark Void is brilliant inventor Nikola Tesla, whose passion and intelligence inspired creativity and advances in technology far ahead of his time,” said Mona Hamilton, vice president, marketing, Capcom Entertainment. “Our partnership with Tesla Motors continues this spirit of creativity and innovation, paring our next generation of interactive entertainment with their next generation of automotive history. The company continues to push the technological envelope with the first electric sports car to go from 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. That’s almost as fast as the main vehicle in the game -- the jet pack!”

Dark Void is a sci-fi action-adventure game that combines adrenaline-fuelled aerial and ground-pounding combat. Set in a parallel universe called “The Void,” players take on the role of Will, a pilot dropped into incredible circumstances within the mysterious Void. This unlikely hero soon finds himself swept into a desperate struggle for survival, joining forces with a rebel human group called The Survivors. Trapped in the Void, these resistance fighters are battling to hold off a mysterious alien race that plans to threaten Earth. Dark Void, developed by Airtight Games and published by Capcom, will be shipping on January 12, 2010 for Xbox 360®, PlayStation®3 and PC.

To enter the sweepstakes, visit the official site Dark Void site at http://www.darkvoidgame.com/tesla/ to sign up for a chance to win. Five lucky winners will get a free trip to Las Vegas this January during the Consumer Electronics Show to test drive the Tesla Roadster with the Dark Void development team. In February, one very lucky winner will win the grand prize -- their very own Tesla Roadster. Gamers who enter before Dec. 7 are eligible for the Test Drive Event and the grand prize. Those who enter after Dec. 7 will be eligible for the grand prize only. By signing up for the sweepstakes, fans will also be entered into the Dark Void community to stay up to date with game news, new assets and announcements. The winner of the Tesla Roadster will be announced in February 2010.

“Nikola Tesla obsessed over building the perfect machine -- just like Tesla Motors. Until the parallel-universe jet pack becomes a reality, there’s always the Roadster,” said Ricardo Reyes, vice president, communications, Tesla Motors. “It’s only fitting that we partner with Capcom, another cutting-edge company, to honor a revolutionary genius.”

Yet another game I'm hoping turns out as spectacular as it looks is Capcom's upcoming Dark Void, set to hit stores on January 12, 2010. Airtight Studios has been hard at work on this baby for quite some time and each time I see it in action or pore over new screenshots is a reminder of how the best developers can take a killer concept and given enough time, really make it soar.

Given that some of the Airtight team helped craft the original Xbox mega-hit Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge, expectations are indeed high that this new game will not just follow in the footsteps of that classic, but surpass it to become a smash across the board on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC once it finally ships.

The unique mix of fast-paced flight action, vertical exploration and combat combined with dynamic shooting and ship hijacking sections combined with the retro-futuristic visual style presented in massive, seamless environments (*whew*) should make for plenty of heart-stopping gameplay. Capcom and Airtight are promising a ton of features in this sci-fi adventure and so far, the game looks to really deliver the goods. Check out these dynamic screens and console version cover art:

We'll have more updates on Dark Void as info flies in - stay tuned...
