Two great commercials for Insomniac's upcoming FPS - As usual, Sony can really put together some memorable ads for the same game and approach each one from a different angle. That and yes, the Sharpshooter works like a dream for yet another PS3 shooter. No doubt R3 will be the biggest game yet in the franchise and if it's the last, it also looks as if it's the best.

Resistance 3 Doomsday Bundle & "Radio" TV Spots

Dungeon Siege III TV Ad Might Be Accidentally Meta...
I'm older than the hills, so hearing the music in this ad zapped me back to my childhood when I'd occasionally plop in front of the TV and be baffled by The Courtship of Eddie's Father. OK, not too baffled, as I was enough of a clever kid to "get" most of the show. Anyway, I'm not sure if Square Enix' PR department planned this, but the ad is a bit meta if you know your TV and film history. As for the game itself, it looks mighty darn good and I'm hoping that Obsidian has hit the nail on the head in single player or co-op modes, as I just LOVE a well-made dungeon hack. DS3 arrives on June 21, 2011 for PS, PS3 and Xbox 360...

"Your Mom Hates Dead Space 2" TV Spot Is Just Plain Right And Wrong Simultaneously
Well.. it IS kind of funny and yes, I actually saw a non-gaming journalist have a similar reaction to the multiplayer mode while I was playing it at the last Sony event I attended (he's not into "scary stuff"). So, on THAT front, it's a brilliant ad.
On the other hand (Devil's Advocate cap on), I can see this ad being used by the anti-gaming crowd that thinks EA is clearly targeting children under 18 with Dead Space 2 and any other M-rated games they publish, which may force EA to deal with "news" outlets merely looking to rake them over the coals unfairly (and once again, if you remember the stupid controversy around Mass Effect two years ago). These folks have less of a sense of humor than a jar of pickles (and about eight times as much vinegar in their veins), so giving them this "gift" as more anti-game ammo might backfire a little too much. So, on THAT front, the ad is a giant "WTF were they thinking?"
Thoughts?
Either way, the game will sell, as there's not really such a thing as "bad" publicity these days...

TRON Evolution TV Trailer
It's almost here and looking pretty darn cool, that's for sure. Propaganda's got the chops, the gameplay is tight and thrilling and all it needs are a ton of fans who can appreciate all the hard work that's gone into the project to hop on board and enjoy the ride they've created. Back with more video in a bit...

Games On TV: Scribblenauts Commercial
Here you go: mildly amusing, although given the game's superb originality, it comes off as a bit lower key than I thought it would be.
Ah well... I guess Middle America needs this super-clean version that can be shown at all hours of the day without the usual irate parents' groups going off the deep end about the game for no reason at all other than it'll make their kids see and use words in the dictionary that they'd rather them NOT know at all. Yeesh.
Anyway, go buy a copy when it hits stores on September 15!
