Press Release of the Day: GameGasm Superstars V8 "Apology"

This fooled me for about half a sentence, but I got a few good laughs after reading the entire thing. Go BUY O-Games' Superstars V8 Racing, already. A mere twenty bucks over PSN and it's a pretty solid racer, to boot. Laughs and link (absolutely check it out, as it makes the joke funnier) below the jump.

Review: Superstars V8 Racing

Platform: PS3 (via PSN)

Developer: Milestone

Publisher: O-Games

# of Players: 1 (online 1 - 8)

ESRB Rating: E (Everyone)

Official Site

Score: B

At a mere twenty bucks, the PSN download-only Superstars V8 Racing offers up a fast and fun chunk of quality racing at an excellent price. While comparing it directly to Sony's upcoming Gran Turismo 5 point by point is a bit of a stretch, the game is certainly worth picking up for its selection of V8-powered European cars, fun to drive real-world tracks and the handling model which balances simulation and arcade elements without going overboard on either. Like other Milestone-developed racers, there are a few menu and GUI quirks that make jumping into races take a bit longer than it should. Nevertheless, you're certainly going to be getting more than enough serious mileage out of the game that you'll be back for more for as long as it's on your hard drive.

Gallery Update: Superstars V8 Racing

Six shiny new screens and two neat panel montages from Milestone's upcoming budget-priced PS3 exclusive racer, set to hit PSN this October thanks to the fine folks at O-Games. It may be a mere twenty bucks, but the game is packed with more than enough features to keep racing fans busy bees buzzing around tracks while they're waiting for a certain other high profile game on Sony's console. Love the four panel shots here, by the way! The make me want to go out and buy a new car even though I can't drive. Yeah, yeah... I live in NYC and the subway is my ride of choice.

O-Games' Superstars V8 Racing Headed To PS3 As PSN-Only Download

“The breadth, depth and quality of Superstars V8 Racing make it one of the best racing games available on PlayStation Network,” said Greg Lanz, general manager of O-Games, Inc. “Our original plan was to release this game at retail, but after considering all the options, we decided to release it exclusively through PlayStation Network. Superstars V8 Racing delivers a first-class multiplayer race experience with world-renowned cars that will thrive with this audience. In addition, O-Games can sell Superstars V8 Racing for a lower price since we do not have to pay the costs to manufacture, package, and ship the product to retail. The bottom line? Gamers can now own a $40 game for half the price they would pay in-store.”

Translation: How can you tell the recession is still going strong? Well, one area where publishers are cutting costs is in the actual production of games. Even for what would be considered a great deal at $40, it costs a lot to get a boxed game to retail. Allowing that same title to be downloaded makes it easier for gamers to get a new release with a credit card and a few button presses.
