GoldenEye Reloaded Stealth Walkthrough
Mr, Bond, I presume? As far as replay value goes, it certainly looks as if GR will give players a few ways to go through the game (just like the Wii version). Here's a bit of fun with vents galore in this walkthrough for the upcoming FPS set to shoot into stores on November 4. I'm leaning towards the PS3 version just for the Move controls (it's just grand that shooters play so well with the peripheral).

GoldenEye: Reloaded Gets Fully Loaded PS3 Exclusive Double-O Edition Box Set
Yes, I still dislike MOST limited edition bundles because you often get stuff that's not important to the core game experience. However, here's a case where one of these big box deals is done really well AND has stuff you can actually use (particularly if you're a fan of PS3 shooters). In other words, I'll take a dozen, please! The Double-O Edition contains the game (of course), PS Move and Navigation Controllers, PlayStation Eye camera and Sharpshooter peripheral.. In addition, buyers will get a DLC character, Hugo Drax from Moonraker, complete with his spiffy laser pistol. No price point has been announced, but both the Standard and 00 Editions will arrive at retail on November 1, 2011. Xbox 360 owners will no doubt be boiling mad at this set, but hey, what do you expect when your version of motion control leaves you with noting to point at the screen but an angry finger. Still, you guys are getting the same game at least, so enjoy Eurocom's awesome work to its fullest in single and multiplayer modes. Saturday, August 20, 2011
Gamescom 2011: GoldenEye Reloaded Gallery
More lovely screens from Eurocom's upcoming re-reboot headed to the PS3 and Xbox 360. Along with many other GoldenEye fans, I'm more than thrilled with what's coming. However as usual in the free-thinking democracy we live in, there are people out there who just don't want the game to succeed. As long as the anti-Activision crowd (some of whom don't play many/any games in the genre or worse, judge every modern/console shooter as "bad" for some reason), overly nostalgic N64 fanboys (yes, the original is a great game, but come on - grow up and open your eyes while learning to show RESPECT to a developer updating a classic into an even better experience) AND Daniel Craig haters (who have ZERO clue about how licensing works - you're not getting Pierce Brosnan back as Bond in a new game no matter how loudly you gripe) who STILL think every FPS has been ruined by Call of Duty (they haven't) are around and thinking their loudly expressed opinions are 100% indication of actual facts (they aren't, but thanks for trying), the game might have that minor speed bump to overcome at retail. I say if you're THAT skeptical and jaded, not even a playable demo will help you. Here's hoping that a percentage of these wags actually change their minds after playing one.
COD: Black Ops Rezurrection Promo Poster Is A Two-Faced Keeper...
AS I noted a while back, Activision absolutely NEEDS to slap all the DLC on a disc and get out some sort of Game of the Year package while very seriously thinking of making a full-on standalone zombie-blasting series at some point.
Oh, I haven't decided if I'm going to give this one away like I did with the other posters, but if I do, you'll be the first to hear about it... watch this space.

GoldenEye: Reloaded Mi6 Trailer - Wow (+ Tax)
Veteran developer Eurocom continues to prove they're at the top of their game with this latest Goldeneye: Reloaded trailer. I think it's time to finally retire the N64 back to the un(der)used systems box here at the DAF home base. Now, all I need to do is choose which new version I'd like to play, PS3 or Xbox 360...

Gallery: GoldenEye: Reloaded
While previewing the revamped GoldenEye 007 on the Wii last year at an Activision event here in NYC, I asked one of the Eurocom guys if PS3 and 360 owners would ever get to see how great the game was on an HD console. While I forget the EXACT answer I'd gotten, it certainly wasn't "No", which was indeed a good sign. Flash forward less than a year later and *boom!*, here it is: GoldenEye: Reloaded, a beefed up new version (NO, it's not a straight port) that features even better visuals and a few new game modes. Check out more screens below the jump.

Call of Duty MW3 Reveal Trailer: This TIme It's (World) War (3?)...
Hmmmm, another year, another COD super-spectacublocbusterlar (and another eyeball-frying trailer packed with intensity), but this one looks like the biggest one to date (BOOM). Yup, November 8, 2011. The players will play, the hates will hate and Activision will be counting up money as it rolls in. I wonder what the limited editions will look like? Probably a non-working miniature atomic bomb or something crazy like that. And hey! Was that an Infinity Ward logo at the end? Nice...

Call of The Dead Promo Poster Makes Me Wonder...
This HUGE and amazing poster for the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops: Escalation DLC arrived today and fooled me for a hot second as I thought it was for an actual FULL GAME. Robert Englund, Sarah Michele Gellar, Danny Trejo AND Michael Rooker in a game as zombie killers? Whaaaaaat?!! That's a day ONE buy, Oh hell yeah!
Then I see the release date and had to feign a dropkick at my PS3 (for not getting this pack on the same day AND the current PSN debacle). My 360 is deader than a pack of blown-away flesh-eaters, so it looks like I'll be a lonely, lonely non-undead killing fool next week (*sob!*). Ah well, there's always the long wait for the Game of the Year Edition, I suppose...
Er... Activision? I'm sure a whole hell of a LOT of diehard COD fans, zombie fans and B-movie fans wouldn't mind skipping yet another military-themed COD one year for a dozen or so of non-stop hours of zombie destruction with these four genre legends, a great single-player/co-op focused storyline packed with genre cliches galore, some fine multiplayer modes (YES with MORE arcade bonuses) and so forth and so on. Trust me, it'll sell like.. er, like Call of Duty, dammit!
Oh, that's George A. Romero as the lead zombie, in case you haven't guessed. I'd know those over-sized thick glasses ANYWHERE.
Say, does anyone reading this (in the U.S. of A, that is) WANT this awesome poster, by the way? Shoot over a reply and I'll see what I can do...

Activision Shakes Up The Toy & Gaming Scene With New Spyro This Fall
I've seen plenty of cool "interactive" toys before (most of which I recall from a few trade shows over the years) mainly geared towards kids that could be connected to PC's for online gaming. Then there were a few oddball Japanese toys I can also recall that could sync to game consoles which failed to take off outside of that country. This year, It looks as if Activision has taken that formerly nascent technology to the next level by blending old and new elements and taking the idea to the Wii (and eventually 3DS) starting this fall. Skylanders - Spyro's Adventure is a unique collaboration between Activision and it's Novato, CA-based studio Toys For Bob that looks to give kids a great reason to collect and hang on to a really cool set of figurines. What's here is being touted as "a wholesale change in the interaction between toys and video games, opening up new possibilities and revenue streams for both industries." A bold statement, no doubt... but it just may be correct. This has been tried previously in gaming, but I'll surprise you all with that in a feature I'm planning in a few weeks.
Full press release, screens and an event video below the jump - Toy images to come in a separate posting. I'll get some hands-on time at Toy Fair over the next few days and get back to you folks with a report.

Activision Wants You To Go To Hong Kong For Some True Crime...

Nope, it's NOT a contest with an amazing prize (although that would be really cool). It's just the single screen shot sent along to promote True Crime: Hong Kong along with a lengthy game description. In a nutshell, the upcoming PS3 and Xbox 360 game will be the first open-world game set in Hong Kong, it will feature a ton of familiar HK talent doing voice-overs, over 100 songs, hand-to-hand combat inspired by HK and Hollywood action flicks, guns galore (Woo, Woo!), plenty of illegal activities to participate in and I'm sure, a Mature rating based on all the other info in the sell sheet. If anything, it should be a heck of a lot better than Stranglehold was. Developer UFG (United Front Games) has quite a task at hand here, so I'll shut up until I get some hands-on time with the game...

X-Men Destiny Trailers 1 & 2: Silicon Knights Is Back In Action...
Normally, most super-hero games make me all yawny, but they've definitely been getting interesting over the past few years. X-Men Destiny is Activision and Marvel's newest take on the familiar mutants, allowing players to create and play as a completely unique mutant character as he or she carves out his or her own path in the upcoming action/adventure game. With developer Silicon Knights at the helm, this could be quite interesting. Like pretty much everything else out there, the game has a dedicated, official Facebook page you can go check out if you're wanting to dive in and interact with like minded mutant fans. Trailer 2 below the jump - enjoy!Tuesday, December 21, 2010
Prototype 2 Xmas Card Is Mildly Creepy (Yet Also Subtly Hilarious)

While it's indeed a quiet holiday scene, there's a nicely lurking sense of impending dread in this card from Activision's PR department. I wonder what Alex Mercer's card looks like (er, provided he's even sending one out this year)... Prototype 2 is in development at Radical Entertainment and should hit stores sometime next year, barring incident.

Review: Blood Stone 007 (DS)

Platform: Nintendo DS
Developer: n-Space
Publisher: Activision
# of Players: 1 (2 - 6 via Wi-Fi)
ESRB Rating: T (Teen)
Official Site
Score: B-
Where the PS3 and 360 versions of the game focus on blending cinema-worthy storytelling elements, solid, familiar gameplay and high quality HD visuals into a solid Bond experience, the portable version of Blood Stone 007 proves you don't need stellar graphics to make a solid third-person shooter. The DS action shooter might look like a mid-range PSOne game and not have the best animation out there, but it's a surprisingly cool shooter that manages to capture the feel of the other games almost to a T. You're getting the same plot and most of the same locations with a few nicely done touches added for good measure. While it may not win any DS Game of the Year awards, it's definitely well-done enough to be a worthy addition to any Bond fan's game collection.

Review: Goldeneye 007 (Wii)
Platform: Nintendo Wii
Developer: Eurocom
Publisher: Activision
# of Players: 1 (2 - 8 online)
ESRB Rating: T (Teen)
Official Site
Score: A-In my opinion, Eurocom's stellar reboot of the classic N64 game Goldeneye not only surpasses the original in terms of overall presentation, it's one of the best Wii shooters to date. As I'm NOT one of those folks nostalgically joined at the hip to Rare's original (and brilliant) game, I can tell it to you straight as a gamer who understands the difference between a a mere rip-off and a true relaunch. As the back of the box says: "Goldeneye is Back - Grab Your Friends" - that's all some of you need to know. This revival of the classic FPS brings both the story as well as James Bond into the current era and it's important to look at the game in this manner, NOT as an attempt to remake the original exactly as it was back in 1996. You're getting not only one of the best-looking games on the Wii, but one with an extremely customizable control layout, fantastic online play and a solid, lengthy campaign that can be played a few different ways depending on the difficulty level selected.

Review: Blood Stone 007
Platform: PS3 (also on Xbox 360, PC)
Developer: Bizarre Creations
Publisher: Activision
# of Players 1 (online 2 - 16)
ESRB Rating: T (Teen)
Official Site
Score: B
With former movie powerhouse studio MGM now pushing up daisies (they'll be sorely missed), the future of the James Bond series on film seems bleak at best. On the other hand, what could be the final product to bear that familiar Leo the Lion logo is a pretty solid licensed game that looks and feels like one of the recent Bond films in the series. Blood Stone 007 isn't supposed to be some sort of amazingly groundbreaking game that will send you over the moon from the moment you touch the controller (and shame on you if you look at EVERY game you play in this manner). Nevertheless, what the game does right it nails near perfectly. It's exactly what an interactive movie experience should be in terms of making you feel as if you're watching a film while letting you control the action as the story elements push you forward.

Goldeneye 007 Launch Trailer
It's here. BUY it. PERIOD. Seriously. Single or multiplayer, this is the Bond game you're going to be playing for a long time. Blood Stone rocks as well on the PS3 and 360, but Wii-only owners now have a remake that to me, surpasses the original in every way.
