Ah, nostalgia... SG is looking really cool and hopefully will capture the absolute best of the 2D and 3D Sonic games in one package. The last couple of Sonic titles have been quite good, warts and all, but I think Sega is on track to deliver one of the best games featuring its popular mascot to date. If not, it's off the the glue factory. That or I can see some failed mascot from days gone by taking Sonic's place. Anyone remember Socket, Pulseman or Awesome Possum? NO? Hmmm.. then again, I think Sonic's job is quite secure after all...

Guardian Heroes Is Back! Now, How About A Sega Saturn Collection?
Well alright! Treasure's innovative fighter/RPG hybrid is finally coming to Xbox Live Arcade (and hopefully, PSN) soon. While this is indeed a great thing to see, I'd really love it if Sega just took the time to bring a bunch of their first-party Saturn games to us on a disc like they've done with the numerous Sega Genesis collections over the years for consoles and PC. Of course, given that Sonic The Hedgehog's presence on the Saturn was somewhat weak, I'm wondering if that's a main reason we haven't seen a PS3 Blu-Ray or Xbox 360 disc collection yet. On the other hand, with games such as this one, Astal, Shining The Holy Ark, Shining Force III, The Panzer Dragoon games, Burning Rangers and more classics, it's a no-brainer that seeing all these great games (and getting them all in one shot at a great price point) would be a win-win situation for Sega and gamers alike.

Aliens: Infestation Launch Trailer: WayForward Wows Once More
What's looking like one of the last great Nintendo DS games is winging your way courtesy Sega, WayForward Technologies and Gearbox Software. No flashy gimmick here, folks - just good, solid old-school gameplay, amazing 2D visuals and plenty of action. This one is definitely in the running for portable game of the year in my book. I really hope a PSP version is in the works, as this game is too good to be relegated to a single platform...

Renegade Ops Upgrades Trailer (Someone Get This On A Disc!)
Remember when games like this used to come out left and right back in the day on cartridges and later, CD's? Sega and Avalanche Studios are going to drop a super-cool bomb of non-stop vehicle-based blasting on your heads this fall. I still think that all these publishers NEED to start compiling PSN and XBLA games onto discs and getting them into mass retailers such as Wal-Mart, Kmart, Target and Best Buy, as there are plenty of sales to be made to those who don't have online console accounts or still use dial-up connections. Remember publishers - those folks STILL have some disposable income and might want to spend a few bucks on some of your games. Shutting them out is always a bad idea. Why not buck the trend, shock the hell out of those annoying analysts and make a bunch of people happy in the process?

Review: Captain America: Super Soldier

Developer: Next Level Games
Publisher: Sega
# of Players 1
ESRB Rating: T (Teen)
Official Site
Score: B
As far as this year's crop of licensed superhero movie games go, Captain America; Super Soldier comes out on top as the most enjoyable. Brandon Gill and the team at Next Level Games (working with a no-nonsense script from Marvel writer Christos Gage) have cooked up a game that packs in exploration, excellent combat sequences, tons of collectibles and a timing-based navigation system that's refreshing as well as rewarding. A few technical issues drag the fun down a notch, but overall, this is one of those games that's hard to put down once you start playing. Granted, if you're one of those folks who wants a "Game of the Year" contender in EVERY title you play, you'll probably find the game lacking in a few areas. On the other hand, for what it is, Cap gets the job done in a solid no frills manner that's well worth the price point.

E3 2011: Captain America Prologue
Can Cap rescue Sega from the not quite stellar superhero game doldrums? Well, I think it can, but I guess it's up to you guys and gals with the wallets to decide. Here's a look at a cool CG movie from the upcoming game. Remember kids, "When he's led to a fight and a duel is due, then the red and the white and the blue will come through..."

Aliens: Colonial Marines Trailer Delivers The Goods (Mostly)...
Hmmm... let's see now - an Alien game by the folks who brought you Half-Life on the PS2, Brothers in Arms, Borderlands and Duke Nukem Forever (among other things)? I smell a hit, but you'll all need to keep sniffing that air until Spring 2012 when Sega ships this out. Gearbox is on a roll, that's for sure...

Anarchy Reigns Character Profile: Leo is Back!
Platinum Games' online enabled brawler is Sega's second chance and getting it right in terms of publishing a decent multiplayer beat-down (the first was the woeful Iron Phoenix), but it looks as if Platinum is going for the gold here. I'd say that Leo is one more AR character you'd not want to come across in a dark alley, broad daylight or any other situation unless you were being very well protected.

Binary Domain Gameplay Footage
Sega shoots out this gameplay trailer from its upcoming sci-fi action/shooter. Looking pretty cool, so far... we'll have to see how it all comes together with some hands-on time...

Sonic Generations Trailer
Hot on the heels of the game announcement yesterday, here' s a peek at Sonic Generations gameplay. Set for a winter release, this PS3 and Xbox 360 game is looking to be the definitive HD Sonic experience (provided it all gels together everything its trying to do right and gets the fans happy). I'm liking what I see, that's for sure... and Classic Sonic is back on the block!

Sega Knows How To Throw A Par-Tay...
Yakuza 4 hits stores on March 15, 2011 exclusively for the PS3 and Sega held a little bash for the game in downtown NYC last night. The game is indeed ridiculously DEEP and nicely done from what I got to play. I think I ate more sushi than I've had in my entire life, but probably not...
Anyway, a review will go up once my copy of the game arrives and I get a good chunk of time into it.

Anarchy Reigns Character Profile: Big Bull
He's big, bad and can beat down tall buildings in a single bound. Probably not, but I wouldn't want to try and stop him, that's for sure... Here's the third character profile video for PlatinumGames' upcoming online brawler. While I'm loving all these movies and I think the game looks amazing... I really STILL want a single-player offline mode (whine, complain, nag, nag nag...). Anyone one else think a fighting game like this could use one?

Anarchy Reigns Character Profiles: Zero & Sasha
POW! PlatinumGames is pretty much making an instant smash with their upcoming online multiplayer fighter for Sega and these two character profiles show off the highly stylized brawlers and a lot of gorgeous animation in a few brief seconds of in-progress gameplay. I still very much want an offline single player story mode, but we'll see what happens as the game progresses. If there's a company that follows its own drummer, it's Platinum, so I'm not holding out hope for a solo mode...

Conduit 2 Weapons Trailer (Plus a Few Other Things)
Here's a look at some of the many different weapons from Conduit 2, High Voltage's followup to their groundbreaking Wii FPS. Sega of America has confirmed a new March 22, 2011 release date for the game, which is indeed a good thing. Since I'm in a really good mood (being the only person I know who's never played Angry Birds on a device I own is part of that), I may as well run the other two game trailers - enjoy!

Sega to Release Dreamcast Collection on Xbox 360, Windows PC

“The Dreamcast console is still remembered as a pioneering console for online gaming,” commented Gary Knight, VP of Marketing at SEGA of America and SEGA Europe “We are delighted to be able to offer to our large community of dedicated fans a collection such as Dreamcast Collection for them to enjoy old favorites on this Xbox 360 and Windows PC."True... but none of those games in this collection were online enabled in terms of gameplay as far as I remember (he said, looking at his DC collection). That and, for the love of Knuckles... why no PS3 version?

TGS 2010: Microsoft Announces Five Japanese-Developed Kinect Titles, XBLA FirePro, Radiant Silvergun, More!

Well, TGS is turning out to be full of interesting surprises, isn't it? Among other big news, it looks as if Microsoft's Kinect peripheral is getting some love from developers in Japan and all of a sudden, I'm actually thrilled that I can do a lot more than dance or exercise in front of my TV (yes!). I knew the "core" games were coming anyway, but it's nice to see the return of Steel Battalion, NanaOnSha back in action, a nice Sega surprise and (finally) another game from the director of Phantom Dust. Of course, I'm most thrilled about grasshopper manufacture and SUDA 51's new Kinect project, so I'm doing the happy dance in my chair as I type this post.
