May Day, May Day! Not Really (But Really...)

Oh, let's see now:

Project CARS is finally coming out! May 7 on PS4 and Xbox One, May 12 via Steam for PC and sometime whenever a release date is announced for Wii U.

It's FREE COMIC BOOK DAY tomorrow (May 2nd) at a comic shop near you! Go walk in and grab a giveaway like this cool Dark Horse promo above! Or the one below! FREE!

Um, what else, what else? Oh yeah! May The 4th Be With You and let that be your gateway to discovering the wild worlds of Star Wars if you haven't yet. It'll also keep you off the streets when the stupid Cinco de Mayo revelries take place. Now there's a "holiday" that's gotten way too out of hand thanks to US marketing making it another boozy blast no one in the U.S. remembers for what it really means. Bleh. It's my birthday on May 7, so send me free stuff like cakes and money and jewels and stuff! Heh. Just kidding, of course. It IS my birthday, but I'm going to be spending it fairly quietly this year tinkering away on an idea or three as usual. I'm not much for wild parties and stuff these days. Okay, if you're reading this, you're in the wrong place! Get yourself over to the not so NEW DAF and sign up already!

December's Here Already?

Where did the year fly to? Granted, it's been busy these past 11 months and busier on the home front with a ton of construction that started last month and still needs to be completed. I'm slowly going nuts from the delays and having to move stuff around here, but it seems to finally be getting back underway later this week. Anyway, I'm writing actual and more interesting posts over at the new DAF, so make sure to boogie on over there if you want more and more frequent updates.

Oh, and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker is my Game of the Month (so far).

Some Changes to the Formula on a Few Fronts...

Yeah, yeah - it's been a while since I posted here, but that's because (duh!), I'm posting HERE these days. I'm keeping this old site up for a bit, as I still need to complete a MAJOR reworking of posts on the newer DAF site.
Hopefully you're clicking that link above and getting what you need there. Additionally, I've just started writing for GamerFit Nation as of last week, so my workload has kicked up a bit (a good thing). Between that and some dips and bumps in the road, the last month has been a bit nuts in terms of other stuff. I'm going to be needing a new computer at the home office (both my older ones have more or less kicked their respective buckets), a better phone (nothing wrong with my old one, but it'll be easier to communicate with the folks at GF) and it looks like a tablet of some sort is in the "buy me!" stage thanks to a few upcoming games I'll need to snap up.

All that stuff is going to dent my finances pretty hard (bleh), as I prefer buying outright over owning some bank and overpaying through interest down the road. But I'll keep you in suspense here because you can read about some of that stuff where you SHOULD, ha!. Okay, back to updating the other site and whipping out some posts on a lousy and rainy Saturday...

Of Course I'm Still Here!

Just not HERE, people! I'm on the much more updated DAF site and yeah, yeah, I do need to shut this old site down one of these days. I just keep it humming along once in a while for emergency purposes, I suppose. Always good to have a backup, right?

Happy New Year! (Or Else...)

Yeah, that's right: I'm EARLY for a change. Actually, I'm probably going to take tomorrow off and rest up a bit (NO, I'm not going to Times Square with the rest of the fools who get trapped down there for the better part of a day without the ability to pee), so I'm posting that new banner above and this post here to wish you all a stellar 2014. Or else. Now, I won't do anything to you if you don't try and have a super year, but I'd say you need to kick a few bad vibes in the nether regions and get some stuff DONE that you've been putting off for a while. You know you want to. Hey, change is good although moving forward can be tricky business if you're set in your ways and unwilling to bend a bit.

Yeah, yeah, I'm talking to myself as well, so let's see what happens 365 days from now and maybe kick up a heel or two in a victory dance. And oh yeah, one BIG change anyone reading this can make (if you haven't done so yet) is follow me over at the NEW DAF site! Lots of stuff going on there and you may even get lucky and win something when I run a new giveaway! That's a pretty good way to start off a new year, I'd say...

Happy Holidays To All (Or Else!)...

Random advice time! Whatever you celebrate, do it and have a damn good time doing it. Stay away from the crazies who want you to tumble into their gloomy un-holiday traps, imbibe and consume responsibly and if you're giving gifts, give from the heart first and the wallet last. Shut up and listen for a change if you're a big talker. Go squeeze a plush object if you're a big hugger and generally, be nicer to random strangers unless they're trying to ruin your day. Then, you have my permission to kick them with those Nutcracker boots you're wearing, which them a merry whatever and stroll away home for a cup of hot cocoa or home-made eggnog (or a carton of the store bought stuff with some special additive that's usually rum or some other adult spirity liquid). That is all. No, wait - in case you STILL don't know this: I'm writing over at Wordpress on the NEW DAF! So boogie on over, check the site out and sign up! It's you're gift to ME if you do this, as followers and hits keep me happy and I KNOW you're cheap when it comes to getting total strangers presents. Note: if you're NOT cheap and don't mind parting with a few thousand dollars, sure, I'll take it!

Testing, Testing...

Nothing to see here, move along! It's just a test post because I'm up too late working on stuff and I have some time to kill while waiting for a download to complete. Anyway, the NEW DAF needs YOU to pop in and sign up as a regular reader if you have not yet done so. I could certainly use the readers and you could certainly use the entertainment there rather than camping out here waiting for new content. SO yeah, nothing to see HERE... so move along to my other site and I'll be a happy camper!

Random Game of the (Upcoming) Week: Remember Me

Despite the heavy focus on multiplayer and "socializing" game experiences to the point of insanity (every game really doesn't need a co-op or online mode!), single player story-based games aren't quite a dying breed, but neither are whiny gamers who demand every game be some sort of open world experiece. Capcom's Remember Me, (out June 4, 2013) is looking like one of those cool new IP that will please fans of games where atmosphere and intriguing characterizations are more important than back of the pack bullet points. I'll have a full review on the NEW DAF site in a few days, so pop on over and check it out...

Hey! I'm Still Alive (and More Productive Elsewhere!)...

Woo-hoo? You're STILL here? OK, OK, How can I get you to subscribe to the NEW DAF site over on Wordpress? (sings) "Tell me, tell me, pleeeeaaaaase!"... Well, you COULD just click on over, see the 160+ posts I've done this month and say "Oh, that's a LOT more updated... I like it!" and sub away. OR I could always BRIBE you to join (a penny each, as I've a bag of them here collecting dust), but that's not feasible and bribery always sucks when you get caught doing it and need to do some jail time. Not that I plan on EVER going to jail, mind you. I couldn't do the site from there unless the Wi-Fi was REALLY good and I didn't have to worry about getting a shiv in the shower every so often. Anyway - go poke around the new site, sign the heck up and let me know how you like the place. I'll be waiting. or posting too much to notice you unless I look at my followers listing (which is hovering around 120 or so)...

UTF_TallOK, OK - you've been asking me to give more stuff away, soooo here you go. Thanks to the fine folks at Tate Multimedia, I have three Urban Trial Freestyle PS3 and three Vita codes here (for the North American PSN store) burning a hole in my inbox. I think six DIFFERENT people out there could use a fun blast of slick visuals, challenging stunt and speed-based gameplay and a ton of replay value to keep them busy for a bit. I think that YOU just might be one of those people, right? So, HOW do you get one of these codes, you ask? Well, just head on over to the NEW DAF site and find out!

Don't take too long to respond, though...   You're almost there - a click away, in fact!

It's Toy Fair Time Again!

Hey... it's that time of the year again, folks. It's said that he (or she) who has the most toys wins, which means Toy Fair ALWAYS wins every single year. I'll be there covering the big event from a few angles on the other DAF blog, so pop on by during the week of the show for some thoughts on stuff that I like. I'm going through my too-packed inbox making appointments, so I'm going to be busy as heck that entire week. Even better, Electronic Arts will be in NYC for their spring press event, so I'll have a few games to write about as well. Hmmm... sometimes I think need some interns or something, as I have too much on my plate every so often. But then again, it costs a lot to care and feed interns and no one makes that perfect robot companion that can do it all, so I guess I'm flying solo once again!

HAPPY NEW YEAR (Or Else)!

Well, it's not quite 2013 here, but yeah - hopefully your year will be better than this one was. the NEW DAF is back in action and going strong, so pop in over thataway and sign up if you haven't. Lots of fun stuff is in the works and you should be a part of it, ladies and gents!

Merging Ahead (on a Few Fronts)...

This weekend should be "fun" if you consider moving posts here to the other DAF clog and adding a few new reviews if I can get all I need done. I also need to find banner images (I know what game I'll choose for December), write up some article I had notes for, lost, then found a day ago and so forth and so on. Hmmm. I also realized that some people think the world will end next month... Er, if you're reading this and are one of those folks, can you send me all your money in a well-wrapped package? Hey, you can't take it with you and I'll make sure to put it to good use. IF you DO decide to take me up on this offer and the world doesn't end, I'll send it back - er, minus shipping and a 5% fee.

Now Playing (Plus): Wii U, I'm Exhausted!

While I'm flipping a mental coin and deciding where to end up (I'm only posting here for the time being while working on a few new site ideas), I'm also up to my eyeballs in games. I just got in Zombi U yesterday (which took me away from Nintendo Land and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 for a few too many frightening hours of creeping around trying to survive) and I have something like eight more games on the way (some old, some new). It's not all Nintendo games (just in case you were thinking I'm only reviewing Wii U stuff, as that's the next batch of games I'll be posting impressions on). I also need to get back to posting Random Indie Game and Random Film of the Week reviews, as I've been backlogged with a few half finished pieces during all this holiday crunchiness and wacky WP nonsense that seems to have been cleared up. Anyway, stay tuned for more updates either here, Wordpress on some other site. The money is spent, so I just need a hell of a lot more time to get everything up and going full steam ahead...

Incoming! More of Too Many Games (But That's A Good Thing)...

Yes, it's been slower than usual around here, but that's due to all the craziness of a site move (again), getting my other site back, trying to juggle what's turning into a small empire (well, in one corner of my brain) and getting a ton of games in and coming in over the next few days. Eek. Well, nothing to do but forge on ahead, decide where to post (little in-joke there) and get cracking. Back in a bit - I think that's Fed Ex at the door...

It's October! Games & Movies Galore Month (But Isn't It Always?)...

OK, You're still here, huh? Well, you're missing out on the game and film reviews, dopey commentary and other junk on the NEW DAF, so there! Anyway, October is a pretty busy time everywhere, but this month in particular brings gamers a ton of awesome stuff like Resident Evil 6, Dishonored (my game of the month, if you want to know where the banner images is from - the other blog has a better header that's kind of Halloween themed) and a bunch of other stuff I can't remember because it's freakin' 8am and I've been up all night working on too many things AGAIN.

Anyway, let me shut up and go to sleep, but I'll leave you with a link that fits the season. NO, not Christmas, silly - some shops were putting up displays LAST MONTH (*Yaaaaaaa!!!!*), which was a bit annoying to see, but hey, the economy is kind of awful if you're not raking in the dollars as an online shop. Which is a nice segue to SINISTER CINEMA, a fine purveyor of things cinematic. OK, they sell "B" movie classics across a few genres on VHS (shocking!) and DVD and a bunch of cool books you might like if you're old and creaky like I am (or just have an interest in stuff like that). Anwyay, go check them out sometime, as website aside, they still do things the old-fashioned way when it comes to shipping what you pick out.

OK, basta es basta, as I hear the Sandman calling... or is that snoring?  Yup, once again, I think he's passed out on the chair in the other room (in front of the TV, actually). Ha! That sleepy sap with the nappy sack can't keep up with me!

Keeping It Simple (At Least Here)...

Yup, no big killer screenshot this month, as I'm concentrating on the new DAF and another project that's going to keep me occupied for a while this month. That is all - more later (but most likely on the new site, hokay?)

Happy Independence Day!

Yeah, yeah, I'm a few days early, but hey, better too early than too late, right? Besides, given the fireworks that have been popping outside my window in the distance the last week or two, I'm actually a bit "late" already, according to some folks in a few neighborhoods around here. Amusingly enough, fireworks are allegedly "illegal" here in NYC, but every year we get a free show up here that lasts a few hours from the folks who manage to smuggle them in from the surrounding areas (as in states where they ARE legal).

Anyway, it's too damn HOT outside, there are way too many great, good and not so great games to play this year and next, the industry still can't admit there's a recession hurting sales at retail and online, we're moving too quickly towards the cloud as a solution for things it will fail at when, frankly speaking, shit goes down hard and so forth and so on.

Exciting times? Yes indeed, but don't get me started on politics, compulsive liars trying too hard to please the wrong people and those folks who don't have a clue still getting shafted by those they think have solutions. Just get me a pile of games and some decent moves and I'm sticking to those for the time being... Anyway, what are you dong reading THIS nonsense when you can check out (and sign up at) the NEW DAF? Go on, now... git! And thank you for doing so if you've already done so!

It's May, So That Must Mean It's Max Payne Month...

With Rockstar teaming up with Marvel Comics and rolling out a Max Payne 3 comic (digital and limited retail release), the game arriving soon afterward and a bunch of ads all over doing their thing, I'm predicting old Max will be feeling better about himself once he's back in the gamer eye for a bit. I'll be covering the game on the NEW DAF blog, so remember to boogie on over thataway to see what I think of Rockstar's wrap-up to the series (well, it's looking like some sort of finale, but I'm expecting to see Max pop up elsewhere at some point in some playable form)...

Buy A Tree, Keep Me Gaming!

Hey! You're still hanging around here instead of signing up at the NEW DAF, huh? Well, good for me, especially if you're sitting on some dispoable income and happen to like a little art collecting. I'm selling off some of my art in the form of  random pencil or ink tree sketches over at fiverr.com and yes, you should maybe think about taking a peek over there and perhaps buying one. Or two. No pressure at all, folks. Hey, everyone needs a little art in their lives, that's for sure!
