CDV USA to Publish Divinity II - Ego Draconis in North America

As a longtime RPG fan, I'm doing the happy dance again because yet another awesome game from a favorite series of mine (and many others out there) is finally on the way stateside. cdv USA has wisely picked up the North American publishing rights to Larian Studios' Divinity II - Ego Draconis for the PC and Xbox 360. Both versions are set to hit retail this holiday season, which means pre-order time for those of you looking for what's probably going to be quite the sleeper hit.

The game is the third entry in the RPG series that started with Divine Divinity and Beyond Divinity. Yes, the titles of the first two games sound as if they're some sort of hugely religious-oriented deal. But in fact, the first game is a gorgeous, fantastically deep 2D fantasy RPG reminiscent of classic Ultima games and the second brings the series into the realm of 3D. With the Xbox 360 verison of Deep Silver's Risen slipping into 2010, Divinity II looks to be the go-to game fans of well-crafted European-style RPGs will absolutely want to dive into.

Just in time for the upcoming holiday season, cdv USA will be bringing the fantasy epic Divinity II - Ego Draconis to PC and the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. This extraordinary action-RPG continues the epic and stirring tale told by its best-selling predecessor in the Divinity series. Divinity II - Ego Draconis combines action-packed, varied gameplay with a deep, diverse quest structure that branches out into many directions, a world where every decision has a consequence on how the game proceeds.

Divinity II - Ego Draconis, in development by Larian Studios, is the sequel to the hit game - Divine Divinity. In the game’s war-torn world of Rivellon, players will explore massive dungeons and outdoor spaces, in both human and Dragon form, while interacting with non-player characters who will offer quests, information and clues. In Divinity II - Ego Draconis, the player will be faced with an unexpected quest that will unveil hidden truths and revive forgotten evils that will change the face of Rivellon forever.

Divinity II - Ego Draconis is a perfect fit for the North American market, and we are very excited to be publishing it,” said Tom Gross, CEO of cdv Software Entertainment USA. “Larian Studios is a well-respected developer and for this reason we are very glad to be able to expand our US line-up this holiday season with such a fantastic product.”

I'm pretty excited about this one, particularly in terms of the 360 version. It'll be interesting to see how the game is received here as more info, movies and images are released. I say go pick up a copy of Divine Divinity while you're waiting and give it a play (particularly if you're still using Windows XP). We'll have more on Divinity II - Ego Draconis as the game gets closer to its US launch - stay tuned.
