Dead Space Extraction Goes Gold

EA has announced that Dead Space Extraction for the Wii has gone gold and should be in stores on September 29, 2009. Also announced was a nice bonus: pre-ordering the game at selected retailers will give gamers access to four of the game's ten challenge modes for solo or co-op play. The Wii exclusive game is a prequel to the events of last year's sci-fi/horror action hit on the PS3 and Xbox 360, Dead Space and was developed by Visceral Games.

Unlike the third-person free movement found in the original Dead Space, Dead Space Extraction takes a first-person point & shoot approach to its alien encounters, which should give the action a suitably arcade-like yet highly cinematic approach as the pacing and scares are doled out during the adventure. As a fan of the first game, I'm definitely interested in seeing how this one plays out. If anything, I'll be playing from halfway under the couch once the scares start coming from all sides...

Here are a few screens and concept a images from the game:

Dead Space Extraction is rated M (Mature) by the ESRB and will retail for $49.99 - Back with more updates as they come in...
